Solvay Commitment for sustainability

We commit ourselves to take into account the triple demand of economic, societal and environmental sustainability.
This commitment is applied to the entire lifecycle of our products, and resides in the desire to innovate and to make progress by conducting a permanent and in-depth dialogue with all concerned stakeholders and all our specific partnerships.

Organization

The Sustainable Development strategy is supervised by the Executive Committee.
Sustainability issues are embedded in all processes and in businesses under the sponsorship of a Group Manager for sustainability.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Group Manager for sustainability makes sure that all initiatives are consistent, with converging results, and that objectives are achieved.
He also watches over the development of sustainability analysis tools, coordinates the selection and monitors the appropriate indicators.

The concept of sustainability can only be effective if it is firmly integrated into organizational and business processes.

By 2020, we will manage a balanced portfolio of activities in Chemicals and Plastics, having a better sustainability index, in terms of both production and markets.
This means consolidating the Group’s activities and the R&D portfolio, to ensure that our products provide solutions to the challenges of sustainability.
