Solvay policy for health, safety and the environment.
The Responsible Care® policy is a key element in Solvay’s commitment to Sustainable Development. This commitment is an undertaking on the part of the world chemical industry to continuous progress in health, safety and the environment.
Solvay embraced the goals of the chemical industry's voluntary Responsible Care initiative and has applied them to the Group since 1992.
In 2007, Solvay signed the updated Responsible Care® Global Charter of the International Chamber of Chemical Associations (ICCA) and updated its own policy on health, safety and environment, affirming its commitment to the Responsible Care® policy.
Guiding principles of the Responsible Care® policy
- We are committed to complying with all applicable local, national and international regulations that relate to health, safety and the environment.
- We are committed to developing and supplying products and services that, throughout their life-cycle, involve minimum risk to human beings and the environment, while best meeting the needs of our customers.
- We are committed to managing both our sites and the transport of our products in such a way as to avoid harm to communities and to our employees, and to minimize the impact of these activities on the environment.
- We are committed to keeping all stakeholders informed of health, safety and environmental issues, and to engage in dialogue with them, in a spirit of openness and mutual respect.
- We encourage our joint-ventures, suppliers, subcontractors and customers to adopt a policy comparable to ours in relation to health, safety and the environment.
