Looking after the next generation: Solvay’s scholarship program

What motivates you? Topping the list for a good number of people is being recognized for their efforts and achievements. So I know we are making a difference to some of the families of our employees when I hear how excited their children are to receive Solvay’s college scholarships.

Every year, we directly invest in the academic careers of our employees’ children because we believe in taking care of their future in real and tangible ways. Our North America Scholarship and Trainee Program was set up in 2007 to recognize young people across the country whose ambition and drive for academic achievement are remarkable. The program enables us to interact more fully with local communities and enrich the development of bright young minds.

This year’s academically accomplished students applied and were selected based on standardized test (SAT or ACT) scores, and as it was for previous years, an impartial third party (International Scholarship and Tuition Services) decided which applicants best fit the criteria. What’s more interesting than the test scores of the winners is how they’ve distinguished themselves in their communities, in sports or the performing arts.
