Solvay is among the first signatories of the "Business proposals in view of a 2015 international climate change agreement at COP 21 in Paris".
This commitment has also been endorsed by Peter Bakker (CEO of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development) and the UN Global Compact. Many more companies from around the world are currently following.
The main proposals are :
- Launching a constructive and lasting Business Dialogue convened by the COP Presidency, between the business community and governments
- Boosting investments in low-carbon business solutions and technologies
- Intensifying R&D, innovation and deployment of mature and breakthrough technologies
- The need for carbon pricing
On May 20th, during the “Business dialogue”, which should mobilize both high-level government representatives and CEOs, these proposals will be presented in view of a 2015 international climate change agreement at COP 21 in Paris.
