Growing people to grow our Group

Preparing the Group for tomorrow’s priorities and challenges and ensuring its sustainable development, consists, for Solvay, in making sure that the right persons are working at the right place everywhere in the world.
This dynamic is expressed in the Human Resources strategy “Growing people to grow our Group”, reflecting the human dimension and the importance accorded to people, to competencies, to personal development and to teamwork. 

As Daniel Broens, Human Resources General Manager, explains “what we are doing within our Human Resources network in fact is working together to develop our personnel in order to achieve the Group’s objectives, without losing sight of the fact that each employee has himself a role to play in his/her own individual development”.

For the Group, the success of its strategy is based on the men and women working for it.
The Group wants to further develop an entrepreneurial spirit while maintaining and improving the good relations it has established with its social partners.

The six strategic objectives:

  • Mapping out our Human Resources needs in qualitative and quantitative terms,
  • Creating a “Solvay Corporate University” to train all managerial staff,
  • Integrating the five Solvay values in all HR activities,
  • Having all managers use HR tools and models,
  • Managing HR processes and providing pertinent information on a single information management system, and
  • Excellence of the HR function
