Construction elements
With more than half a century of experience in construction materials, Solvay products are extensively used for architectural membranes, profiles and elements, and facings.  Solvay's Rigid PVC compounds are widely used to make construction elements such as sidings, windows, door frames and shutter profiles.  For indoor work, too, PVC profiles are widely used for glazing verandas, glazing frames and bench slats for interior furnishing and decoration.

Architectural membranes
Stretched flexible glass cloth membranes or polyester fabric structures coated with plastics made of emulsion PVC provide dimensionally stable structures that offer desirable light transmission properties and weather resistance for large area coverings.  They are an innovative answer for projects such as sports stadiums and pools, tented villages and markets, which offer particular challenges to architects.

Weather protection
Solvay film coatings are used to improve the weather and UV resistance of house sidings in sunny countries as well as to protect metal facings in unfavourable environmental or climatic conditions.  They ensure the durability, colour and gloss retention of metal roofs, which require no further painting maintenance for 30 years.
