Specialty Amorphous Perfluoropolymer for Semicon and Membrane Applications

Hyflon® AD polymers resemble semicrystalline perfluoropolymers in their performance properties as they exhibit high-temperature stability, excellent hydrophobicity, and chemical resistance as well as very low surface energy.

A key distinctive feature of Hyflon® AD polymers is that they are soluble in selected solvents. In particular, their high solubility in perfluorinated solvents and their low solution viscosities make them suitable for solution process technologies.

Market Applications

Hyflon® AD can provide thin, uniform films and coatings (down to submicron thicknesses if required) using casting or coating techniques and thermal treatments, well below the typical baking temperatures of semicrystalline perfluoro-polymers.

Hyflon® AD Product Line

The commercial grades of this amorphous perfluoropolymer are Hyflon® AD 40, and Hyflon® AD 60. Hyflon® AD 40 is available both as a high molecular weight (Hyflon® AD 40H) and a low molecular weight grade (Hyflon® AD 40L). Hylon® AD 40 is available in powder and solution formulations.

The main features of Hyflon® AD 40H and Hyflon® AD 40L include: structure in amorphous glassy polymersolubility in perfluorinated solventlow dielectric constant of 2.0 to 1 kHzexcellent optical properties (high UV transmittance and low refractive index).

The main features of Hyflon® AD 60 include: structure in amorphous glassy polymer; solubility in perfluorinated solvent; very high permeability and selectivity to gases.
