Regional Technical & BD Manager (F/M/X)

About the role

  • Our Derivative team, composed of 8 people, is integrated in the Soda Ash department and focuses on sales management and commercial activities for the Bicar® business in APAC. Bicar® is a high quality sodium bicarbonate used in a wide range of applications including food, feed, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, air pollution control and personal care products. SOLVAir® is a developing business in air emission control with a strong technical knowledge and support to customers, engineering companies and decision makers.
  • As a Job Regional Technical & Business Development Manager, you will work on providing documentation support especially for Pharmaceutical & Food applications and to hunt for new opportunities in flue-gas treatment application to support sustainable growth of Asia. You will get the opportunity to strengthen the technical expertise for Bicar® & .SOLVAir® and contribute to the business growth in Asia. We offer a permanent contract based on hybrid working mode.
  • You will be accountable for:
    • Technical Marketing, Bicar®
      • Manage technical agreements with customers, negotiate specifications, answer technical related questions & regulatory affairs on documentation, not limited to key accounts and ensure that the customers are well taken into account by Solvay quality and services. Manage customer demands and audits
      • Additionally provide technical support to Asian customers of the industrial site in Thailand and in coordination with the European support team of European industrial sites of Solvay exported to Asia Pacific especially related to the Pharma & Food applications.
      • Claim resolution for complex issues and support the sites in defining corrective actions
      • Support to the sales team in development and on-going maintenance of accounts and be the overall technical contact for APAC on Bicar® in APAC
    • Business Development, SOLVAir
      • To be technical reference for SOLVAir® in ROA (exclude China) and manage technical knowledge at a central level in order to feed commercial team with up-to-date and relevant technical elements
      • Work with EU team and China team to assure the latest information is transmitted to the market as appropriate
      • Organize tests at customer sites to convince them to use SOLVAir® or for R&D purposes
      • Monitor and study impacts of upcoming or proposed environmental regulations
      • Continuous evaluation of customer’s system performance by sampling and analysis of usage to determine efficiencies
      • Answer technical questions including design recommendations and process improvement requests related to SOLVAir
      • Keep abreast of competitive technologies and competitor actions in the air pollution control industry
      • Protect Solvay IP
      • Support business with relevant technical studies and presentations, input to roadmap
      • Participate and speak at international congresses and fairs & present SOLVAir to regional regulatory authorities
      • Extend SOLVAir familiarity through networking sources such as technical forums
      • Work with Corporate Communications to selectively advertise SOLVAir Solutions
      • Give support to specific regional development projects
      • Contact and develop & build new customers base and expand project project pipelines in ROA
      • Dimension the potential market for SOLVAir® in ROA

About you

  • Relevant education degree or equivalent Degree in, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Environmental Engineering or equivalent preferred
  • 3 to 5 years relevant professional experience in 3-5 in industry (technical assistance, sales technical support or marketing or process engineer) is required
  • Languages: English & Chinese-speaking is mandatory
  • Travel: 30 to 40% of the time with international travel
  • Location: Singapore or Thailand
  • Competencies:
    • Business skills, project management skills, knowledge in regulatory and environmental applications are a plus.
    • Ability to connect with several level of contacts from plant operators to design engineers to sell SOLVAir Solutions
    • Technical writing skills needs to be well developed as marketing tools include authored original articles in trade journals
    • Good project management skills
    • Excellent synthesis and analytical skills
    • Excellent communication skills for technical matters and for commercial support
    • Excellent presentation skill required including speaking to large audiences (Chinese-speaking is mandatory

About the pay and benefits

  • Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. While the Singapore / Thailand base pay reasonably expected for this role is 88,880 to 111,100, your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience. Additionally, we provide a competitive total rewards package that includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
