About the role

  • Our Technical Engineering team of highly qualified Engineering professionals serves a manufacturing plant whose major products are soda ash, sodium bicarbonate and processed trona. The Project Engineers primary role is the development and execution of a wide range of capital, expense, and troubleshooting projects.
  • The Project Engineer will complete economic and technical evaluation for projects. This candidate will also complete technical evaluation of maintenance and production problems including, safety, corrosion, failure analysis, resource optimization and cost improvements. In this position you will provide engineering services for specific areas, sections, or functions within the plant, providing external customer technical assistance, assist in the acquisition of and gain proficiency on the systems and tools necessary to continually improve department productivity.
  • You will be accountable for:
    • Implementation of projects to satisfy schedule, budget, safety and quality criteria.
    • Accountable for time schedule and budget for projects that are under their direct supervision.
    • Gaining of consensus on problem sets across departmental lines.
    • Selling technical and management system changes to the plant and to corporate management.
    • Selection of contractors and vendors; solving contractual problems with contractors.
    • Project planning to satisfy completion schedules, quality and budget.
    • Expertise in the aspects and application of Safety Life Savings Rules.
    • Coordinating Civil, structural, mechanical, process development and materials handling design.
    • Typically assigned 5-15 projects at a given time ranging in size from a few thousand dollars to $10 million. Projects from $50K to $500K are common.
    • Management of contractors can vary from a few to +50 engineering resources and craftsmen. The incumbent is actively involved in providing technical assistance with an annual maintenance budget in excess of $30 million.
    • This position occasionally requires being on call to deal with operational problems or when necessary to manage projects outside of their normal working hours.
    • Travel maybe be required on specific projects.
  • We offer permanent employment based onsite, working a 4/10 schedule.

About you

  • BS in Civil, Mining, Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical engineering or Construction Management with project management or related experience (Soda Ash process experience is a plus).
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience preferred in related industries with project management/economic analysis/ mechanical equipment selection/installation. Structural, civil, mechanical and materials handling design skills.
  • Ability to work effectively across departmental lines; direct contractor design/procurement/construction activities.
  • Excellent written/graphic/verbal communicator.

    • Strong practical technical knowledge within area of expertise i.e., mechanical, civil, materials handling, procurement and construction design. As well as practical knowledge and application in project management best practices.

About the pay and benefits

  • Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. While the US base pay reasonably expected for this role is $80,500-$113,600, your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience. Additionally, we provide a competitive total rewards package that includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
