Process Engineer in the Utilities Department (Energy and Water) (F/M/X)

About the role

  • Our team, composed of approximately 50 people, is integrated in the Torrelavega site. We are responsible for the production and distribution of energy (steam and electricity), water in different qualities and other utilities to the whole industrial complex (Solvay and other companies), in close collaboration with the other units.

  • As a Process Engineer, you will work on production optimization, maintenance support and project development to meet business objectives. You will help to ensure the compliance with legal and safety requirements (reporting, audits,...). You will get the opportunity to contribute to the competitiveness of our factory and actively participate in the decarbonization of our processes.

  • Your responsibilities will focus on the following areas:

    • Safety & Environment: Ensuring compliance with safety and environment regulations, in coordination with the QHSE department. Contributing in both occupational and process safety. This includes knowing and promoting safety standards, organizing safety plans, and analyzing incidents for improvement.

    • Production: Optimizing production performance, preparing reports on Energy, CO2, and Environmental aspects, and supporting cost analysis and annual planning. This involves following up on production, proposing optimization initiatives, and creating reports for legal requirements and audits.

    • Maintenance: Defining priorities on maintenance works, validating urgent tasks, and coordinating with the maintenance team. Coordinating within the production department the preparation of the assets to ensure safe maintenance works. Work permit support. 

    • Continuous Improvement & Projects: Analyzing incidents and production performance in order to propose projects for continuous improvement. Defining technical needs, preparing projects and assisting in their implementation with other departments (engineering, digital team,...).

    • On-call Duties: After an initial period of learning, performing on-call duties on some weekends.

  • We offer a permanent contract based on onsite working mode.

About you

  • Holds a Master degree in industrial engineering (energy, mechanical, electrical, …) or equivalent.

  • 3 years or more of experience in industrial plants. 

  • Knowledge of energy production and/or water treatment is an added advantage.

  • Competencies:

    • Fluent verbal and writing skills in Spanish and English are mandatory. 

    • Oral and written communication skills at all levels.

    • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.

    • Ability in learning and using IT tools.

  • Knowledge of P&ID (piping and instrumentation diagrams) will be a plus.

About the pay and benefits

  • Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined according to our collective agreement. While the starting salary base for this role is about 43 k€ gross annually, once the training period is over, your salary may ultimately be higher based on your skills and experience.
