About the role 

 
Our Group Safety team is integrated in the Safety Function and focuses on strengthening safety governance, assurance, performance management, culture and continuous improvement across Solvay in collaboration with Global Business Units, Sites, Executive Leadership Team members and governance bodies. 
 
As a Head of Safety Performance, Assurance & Governance, you will work on safety governance, assurance and performance management to support the continuous improvement of Solvay’s Safety Management System. You will get the opportunity to contribute to the development of data-driven safety strategies and have a positive impact on safety performance, risk management, and safety culture across the organization. You will be accountable for:  

 

  • Owning and continuously improving the Solvay Safety Governance System, ensuring integration of safety standards, performance management, assurance processes and culture initiatives  

  • Leading Safety Assurance and Independent Verification by defining the audit and assurance framework and methodology. Lead major safety audits, assessments, and investigations.  

  • Driving safety performance management, data governance, analytics, AI and predictive capabilities to support informed decision-making and proactive risk management  

  • Sustaining safety culture and organizational learning through communication, capability development, communities of practice, knowledge sharing and safety engagement initiatives  

  • Leading a multidisciplinary team and acting as a strategic advisor to the Group Safety Director and senior leaders on safety performance and governance matters 
     

We offer a permanent contract based on hybrid working mode.  

 

About you 

 

  • Relevant education degree or equivalent in Safety, Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, Operational Excellence, Risk Management or related discipline. Significant leadership experience in Safety, EHS, Process Safety, Operational Excellence, Risk Management or Industrial Operations within a multinational environment. Proven experience managing complex transformation and change initiatives.  

 

Competencies:  

  • Strong knowledge of Safety Management Systems, governance frameworks and assurance methodologies  

  • Experience with performance management systems, analytics, digital tools and data governance  

  • Understanding of Occupational Safety, Process Safety, Transport Safety and AI-enabled decision-making

About the pay 

 
Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. The base pay expected for this role in Belgium is: EUR 125,600 – 157,000. 

Your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience. Additionally, we provide a competitive total rewards package that includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
