Solvay has become a regular sponsor of two programmes at CERN:

The CERN Summer Student Programme which offers undergraduate students of physics, computing and engineering a unique opportunity to join in the day-to-day work of research teams participating in experiments at CERN in Geneva, Switzerland.

The Beamline for Schools Competition which gives high-school students the chance to run an experiment on a fully equipped CERN beamline, in the same way researchers do at the Large Hadron Collider and other CERN facilities every day. Last year, the winning teams came from UK and Poland.

The two teams, totaling 16 students, were selected out of 151 applications from 37 countries around the world, representing more than 1250 high-school students who engaged with particle physics as they worked on coming up with feasible experiments to test.
