GPS Safety Summaries inform the public about key hazards and risk management measures related to substances placed on the market, in a simple, easily understandable format:
- GPS Safety Summaries are published in the context of the Global Product Strategy (GPS) initiative of the International Council of Chemical Associations (ICCA), the world federation of chemical industries. This initiative was launched in 2006 to support the product stewardship initiatives of individual companies and the global chemical industry as a whole.
Each summary contains basic information on the chemical identity of a chemical substance, its physicochemical properties, uses, health and environmental effects, potential routes of exposure and risk management recommendations.
- GPS Safety Summaries are not legal documents. They are thus not intended to replace more detailed, mandatory Safety Data Sheets nor to provide emergency response information or medical information. In-depth safety and health information can only be found in the relevant Safety Data Sheet (SDS).
- GPS Safety Summaries for Solvay substances can be found on the ICCA GPS Chemicals Portal
