During its fourth annual “Global Supplier Day” conference held in Shanghai, China, Schneider Electric awarded ten suppliers recognized as leaders in performance and excellence. The GBU Solvay Engineering Plastics received the Planet & Society Responsibility Award for its Sustainable Development performance.  An example in terms of commercial excellence.

According to Schneider Electric, the ten award-winning suppliers differentiated themselves from a field of 235 of the company’s preferred production and non-production suppliers. Preferred supplier standing is assessed on an annual basis and is typically granted to a few hundred of the thousands of suppliers that conduct business with the company and who have set themselves apart based on meeting stringent criteria in the categories of Customer Satisfaction (quality, service), Total Cost of Ownership (competitiveness), Business Added Value (innovation), Sustainable Development (planet and society responsibility), and Cooperation (responsiveness). Preferred suppliers are systematically provided access to business opportunities with the company, as well as a preview to its research and development and product roadmaps.

“We continue to raise the bar in terms of our supplier expectations given the competitive nature of the energy business and it is our honor to recognize the achievements of these leaders in their respective fields,” says René Orlandi, Schneider Electric Chief Purchasing Officer. “We put a premium on the relationships with our preferred suppliers as we view them as strategic partners who can help us drive sustainable growth.”

Solvay Head of Sustainable Development, Jacques Khéliff adds in return: “This award recognizes our strong performance in customer relationships with a key account. Schneider Electric is a company fully engaged in sustainability, and Solvay meets its Corporate Social Responsibility demanding standards. Solvay Engineering Plastics is really engaged in this area and has clearly demonstrated the positive result of its efforts with this recognition. This award underlines strongly that integrating Solvay Way with our customer stakeholders can bear fruit.”
