Solvay’s CYQUEST® family of crystal growth modifiers (CGMs) is a surface active agent designed to improve agglomeration of hydrate particles  and helps to deliver more consistent control of the size distribution of the product from precipitation.

Solvay’s  crystal growth modifiers also assist to stabilize dissolved  sodium oxalate in liquor, reducing the occasions of oxalate rain. Solvay’s CGMs can also change the morphology of the sodium oxalate to give larger crystals in the shape of balls or large needles. This can be a benefit in some classification circuits, facilitating the separation of the precipitated oxalate from the alumina trihydrate. CYQUEST® CGM family also has defoaming properties and will act both as a defoamer and a CGM.
