Solvay new G.R.O.W. strategy to drive growth, cash and returns
November 7, 2019 - Solvay released its G.R.O.W. strategy review, with a clear objective of unleashing Solvay's full potential and accelerating value creation. Ilham Kadri, CEO and Karim Hajjar, CFO shared the strategy roadmap with analysts and investors during a live webcast, which replay can be found below.
The G.R.O.W. strategy is the result of a comprehensive strategic review of the Group's entire portfolio. After a sequence of more than 50 M&A deals since 2012, the last key step in Solvay's transformation is to simplify. We will unleash Solvay’s full potential through a disciplined and differentiated allocation of resources across the Group, based on distinct business mandates and enabled by a new operating model, Solvay ONE.
We will focus on growth, cash and returns, and will prioritize investment in the highest return opportunities. We will also create a more effective way to serve and innovate with our customers, as we increasingly deliver sustainable solutions that meet the needs of a more ESG-focused world. Therefore, we are well positioned to drive superior value creation for shareholders, customers and all other stakeholders.

Solvay outlined strong sustainable growth potential at its 2018 Investor day
On the occasion of the Investor Update, held on 24 September 2018 in London, Solvay shared with its investors the latest information regarding its portfolio. One of the main highlights is that the Next Generation Mobility and Resource Efficiency markets have become key levers for the Group to deliver sustainable value growth.
Solvay’s in-depth transformation and innovation-focused growth have delivered strong profits and cash over the past few years. Looking ahead, Solvay will leverage its advanced technologies and streamlined organization to continue to innovate, further partner with its customers and generate superior growth.
Simultaneously, Solvay updated its greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) approach, with the new objective of reducing them by 1 million tonnes by 2025. This ambitious target strengthens our commitment to do our part in tackling climate change, ensuring our growth does not come at the expense of the planet, and placing us at the forefront of the chemical industry in this field.

Solvay held its 2015 Capital Markets Day to update investors and analysts on its strategy and performance. Solvay reaffirmed the strategic direction and 2016 financial targets it set in 2013, and discussed its progress since. The event was hosted at the Bollate (Italy) headquarters of Specialty Polymers, a star performer within the Advanced Materials “growth engine” segment and included a deep dive on Specialty Polymers as well as presentations on Solvay’s businesses Novecare, Peroxides, Soda Ash & Derivatives and Special Chem.
