Paulínia (SP), April 14, 2020 - To assist in combating the COVID-19 pandemic, the Volunteer Friends Group - GAV, which brings together employees of Rhodia (Solvay Group) from Paulínia - SP, coordinated between March and April the donation of inputs for the production of 2 thousand hospital face shields, in partnership with the Renato Archer Information Technology Center (CTI) in Campinas. Additionally, they gathered basic food baskets, hygiene materials, and fabric masks for distribution to communities and institutions in the region.
The production of Face Shields (hospital face shields) is a technological alternative to protective masks that are scarce in the market. The Renato Archer CTI, which is a research unit linked to the Ministry of Science and Technology, is 3D printing the protectors for distribution to local hospitals.
The GAV coordinated the purchase and donation of clear PVC sheets to the center, which will be sufficient for the production of two thousand masks. The pieces will be supplied to the PUC Hospital and the Sobrapar Hospital, both in Campinas, contributing to the safety of healthcare professionals working in the treatment of COVID-19 infected patients.
Throughout the period of social isolation caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the GAV is carrying out other donation actions, as reported by Hanna Urio, president of the organization and operational excellence specialist at Rhodia's unit in Paulínia (SP).
