São Paulo (Brazil) and Brussels (Belgium), November 27, 2017 – Peróxidos do Brasil, a joint venture between the Solvay Group and PQM - Produtos Químicos Makay- is rolling out the world’s first satellite hydrogen peroxide plant, in Brazil, with a capacity to produce 12,000 tons a year at the Suzano Papel e Celulose in Imperatriz, in Maranhão State, in the northeast of Brazil. Developed under the myH2O2® technological concept, patented by Peróxidos do Brasil, the unit is an on-site plant - that is, at the client's facilities, and it can be remotely operated by the Peróxidos mother plant, in Curitiba, Paraná State, 2,670 kilometers away.
Production by this satellite plant will be used exclusively by the Suzano pulp mill, whose industrial infrastructure, utilities and inputs it will use. "The installation of a myH2O2® satellite plant is perfectly adequate, especially for customers who have pulp and paper mills further away from our largest industrial unit in Brazil. Our technology offers many gains, including competitiveness, increased security of supply, lean logistics and reduced carbon emissions," said Carlos Silveira, CEO of Peróxidos do Brasil.
The implementation model for this type of dedicated plant also contributes to regional development, since it is an investment in an industrial facility, and is highly sustainable because it eliminates hundreds of truck trips, improving logistics and reducing the environmental impact. According to Georges Crauser, President of the Solvay Group's Peroxides Global Business Unit, the investment in this unit is in line with the growth strategy for the businesses linked to hydrogen peroxide around the world. “Our goal is to respond adequately to the demands and needs of customers in all the regions we operate in, using all the expertise of our commercial and industrial teams involved in hydrogen peroxide," he says. Crauser says the Solvay Group is in constant discussions with several customers around the world to develop new business opportunities, including new myH2O2® units.
