WHC Certification

From specific actions dating back to the 1990s, there was an evolution in the management of biodiversity conservation projects and a significant leap forward with the decision to seek Wildlife Habitat Council (WHC) certification. Because the WHC protocol works as a kind of ISO for biodiversity, it was used as a guide to create a more robust management process. Thus, it was possible to improve the conceptual and practical aspects, considering the projects in an integrated manner, gathering evidence of impacts, assessing measurable results and reflections of community actions, identifying opportunities for improvement, and creating new initiatives.

With annual Health, Safety and Environment action plans already in progress, it was possible to develop an enhanced plan focused on biodiversity conservation following the WHC certification and opportunities for improvement identified by the NGO’s experts in the report.  The Biodiversity Program is coordinated by the Sustainability Team and executed with the support of the Environment, Community Relations, Research and Innovation, Engineering, Emergency Control, Management and the Corporate Sustainability Teams.
