Senior Process Engineer (F/M/X)

About the role 

Our Group Engineering & Construction team (16 people), part of the Industrial Function, is integrated into the Industrial Function department and focuses on maximizing the performance of Industrial Assets and managing Industrial Investment Projects, including Remediation Projects in collaboration with all Global Business Units (GBUs) of the Solvay Group.

 

As a Senior Process Engineer, you'll execute engineering studies with objectives as varied as developing production processes for new materials, debottlenecking existing plants, solving quality issues, addressing safety concerns, and reducing environmental impact. You'll get the opportunity to contribute to the safe and efficient design, building, and operation of Solvay's plants and have a positive impact on the continuous improvement and excellence of our industrial operations.
To be successful, you will interact smoothly with all engineering disciplines (design office, instrumentation, mechanical, project managers), technical experts (CFD, HSE …) R&I researchers, and site représentatives (Operations, Maintenance, …).

 

You will be accountable for:

  • Lead process engineering studies, including modeling, simulation, and the development of process flow diagrams.
  • Design and specify key equipment such as reactors, separation columns, heat exchangers, and systems for filtration, liquid-liquid extraction, and solid handling.
  • Develop comprehensive Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID).
  • Analyze data to inform critical decisions and maintain specialized know-how in Rare Earth Technologies.
  • Consolidate and advance process design knowledge through the creation of guidelines and design tools.
  • Provide expert technical insights, propose innovative solutions to challenges, and present evidence-based recommendations for implementation.

 

In addition, depending on opportunities and organizational requirements, you will take on the role of Lead Process Engineer for major industrial investment projects. In this capacity, you will coordinate the activities of a process engineering team, potentially including external engineering teams, and validate their output.

 

We offer a permanent contract based on a hybrid working mode in our Brussels office. This role requires occasional international travel for short periods.

 

About you

 

Education and Experience: Master's Degree in Process Engineering or Chemical Engineering.
Minimum of 15 years of experience in process engineering.

Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of various processes.
  • Fluency in French and English is required.
  • Strong Customer Orientation.

About the pay and benefits

Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. While the Belgium base pay reasonably expected for this role is 110 000 EUR to 124 000 EUR, your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience. Additionally, we provide a competitive total rewards package that includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
