Brussels, March 03, 2017--- Solvay has achieved the EU Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification for the production of hydrogen peroxide at its new manufacturing and filling facility in Linne-Herten (NL).

After having received the API registration for the European market already during 2016, this new production and filling installation, including a clean room, was prepared and technically validated during the second half of the year for the GMP certification by Dutch Health Authorities. This certification has now been achieved without any findings.

The site in Linne-Herten is currently manufacturing Solvay’s main Peroxides disinfection grades for the European market, for both peracetic acid and hydrogen peroxide. It is strongly experienced in complex production, filling, packaging and labelling operations from bulk deliveries down to packs of one liter bottles. With this achievement, Solvay responds clearly to the increased need in that sector and its ambition to grow strongly in specialties with higher added value.

Hydrogen peroxide is used in the pharmaceutical industry as active pharmaceutical ingredient or as disinfection and decontamination agent. It is directly used in solutions for wound disinfection or for medical mouth wash. The pharmaceutical industry appreciates also the outstanding disinfection capability of this product in the sterilization and decontamination of production and laboratory facilities.  For wound and mouth disinfection application, compliance with GMP guidelines is mandatory.

The official API registration number is 6783 API and the official GMP certificate number is NL/H 17/ 1011718. Both certificates are now available for public in the Union Eudra GMDP database via HTTP://EUDRAGMDP.EMA.EUROPA.EU/
