A Research Scientist to be responsible for leading product research and development projects in support of product line business and overall company objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintains a safe work environment for self and others.
- Develops and characterizes new resins on a laboratory scale.
- Define process chemistry for new resin development.
- Leads or assists in the scale-up of new molecules from laboratory/pilot plant to commercial scale.
- Improves existing chemical processes.
- Provides technical support to plant operations.
- Screens and characterizes new raw materials for suitability in commercial production.
- Assists in the review and monitoring of patent/scientific literature relevant to business management.
- Leads or assists in external programs with universities/institutions or other Solvay entities to evaluate emerging technologies and work with Marketing to develop commercial opportunities.
- Facilitates the development and professional growth of assigned technician(s).
- Participates in peer and area coordinator safety audits and attends all required safety meetings and training.
- Any other duties required by the business.
Education, Experience, and preferred skills:
- Ph.D. in Chemistry, especially organic chemistry, Polymer Chemistry, or related fields.
- Experience with process chemistry.
- Experience with analytical chemistry, physical chemistry, statistical experimental design, and treatment of data.
- Fluent in English
- Ability to develop new processes and scale up to commercial production with a good understanding of scale-up issues
- Strong troubleshooting skills
- Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
- Strong communications skills (oral and written)
Location(s): Alpharetta (Georgia, USA)
The U.S. base salary range reasonably expected to be paid for this new hire is: $110,000 to $130,000. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives
