Solvay has been acknowledged by Henkel for its contribution to Innovation and Sustainability in the home care field with two awards, runner-up in the 2020 Innovation Contributor category and runner-up in Sustainability during the 2021 American Cleaning Institute (ACI) annual convention held virtually this year.

“I’m proud of our teams, their agility and the collaborative spirit they’ve shown in delivering such innovations to our customers,” said Michael Radossich, Solvay Novecare GBU President. “We have worked hard to earn Henkel’s trust and build a strong relationship that engenders mutual and sustainable value for both of our companies.”

The Innovation Contributor Award recognizes new ActizoneTM, a patented technology that delivers 24-hour antimicrobial protection* to give consumers peace of mind and confidence in knowing the hard surfaces in their homes are clean and safe. The Award also lauds Solvay's ActizoneTM team for its agile support along the product development journey from registration to rollout.

"ActizoneTM technology is a full formulation development bringing a breakthrough performance attribute to disinfectant cleaners for hard surfaces to last and protect consumers against bacteria and virus for 24 hours," explained Kamel Ramdani, Global Technology Director and Technical Leader of ActizoneTM Project. "Our collaboration with Henkel demonstrated our common commitment to quickly bring innovative solutions to consumers in the Covid-19 pandemic situation," added Oliver Hufer, Vice-President ActizoneTM Incubator.

Solvay is also a proud winner in the Sustainability category for  Rhodasurf®️ 6 NAT , a natural-based nonionic surfactant that allows detergents to be designated as a U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Safer Choice and U.S. Department of Agriculture-certified with a 99% bio-based clean claim.

"Rhodasurf®️ 6 NAT is an alternative to synthetic surfactants. It is produced without petrochemicals and uses renewable carbon throughout ingredient development," explained Galder Cristobal, Home & Personal Care Research and Innovation Director at Solvay. "The Life Cycle Analysis for this bio-based surfactant for home care shows how we can save up to 30% in non-renewable carbon resources and up to 20% in carbon dioxide emissions."

"This holistic contribution to innovation and sustainability underlines our continuous, strong partnership throughout the years," explained Thorsten Bastigkeit, Corporate Director, Head of Future Science Laundy and Home Care at Henkel.
