São Paulo, April 25, 2017 – With the aim of offering sustainable solutions and meeting society's demand for environmentally friendly products, Rhodia, a Solvay Group company, is launching Rhodianyl® Bio, a smart and functional biodegradable polyamide textile yarn designed for the production of school uniforms. The presentation of this new product is taking place at Febratextil – Brazilian Textile Fair, held between April 25 and 28 in São Paulo.

Rhodianyl® Bio yarn offers all the benefits of the traditional Rhodianyl® Helanca polyamide, which has been on the market for several years, such as a soft touch, extreme comfort, breathability, moisture absorption, easy care, easy washing, and a wide range of colors. Additionally, it incorporates biodegradability, meaning that uniforms made from this yarn will have the ability to decompose within up to three years after being correctly disposed of in landfills.

"Environmental respect and sustainability are themes advancing in everyday school life, and there is nothing better than offering students the possibility that their first encounter with these subjects is through the use of a school uniform made from a biodegradable textile yarn like Rhodianyl® Bio," says Renato Boaventura, CEO of the Global Fibers Business Unit at the Solvay Group.

The development of this new product expands the company's range of sustainable textiles and represents a significant advance in providing solutions for the school uniform manufacturing market. The school uniform manufacturing market encompasses around 3,000 companies across the country.

"We increasingly want to create environmentally friendly products. Our mission, together with our clients, is to develop solutions that meet this demand, contributing to a better world for future generations," adds Renato Boaventura. According to him, the company's growth strategy is based on offering technologies, processes, and products with a strong focus on Sustainable Development.

Like all other textile yarns from Rhodia, Rhodianyl® Bio also has STANDARD 100 certification by OEKO-TEX®, attesting to its safe use for making clothing for adults, children, and babies.
