Solvay has appointed Philippe Kehren, currently head of Soda Ash Europe, as president of its global business unit Soda Ash & Derivatives. He will start from January 1, 2021.
Throughout his career, Kehren has accumulated a wide range of experience, from finance and managing clean energy production to leading transformation projects and customer relations in the EMEA region. He has lived both in the United States and in Europe.
Kehren joined Rhone Poulenc in 1996 as a process engineer, followed by roles including finance director of Solvay’s former Polyamides business in Chalampé, France; director of a business unit leading clean energy production units in Europe, Asia and Latin America; and as director and vice president, Europe, for Solvay Energy Services, in charge of business development.
He obtained his Master of Science in Chemical Engineering in 1995 from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, United States. He is a graduate of the IFP School and of the Ecole Polytechnique, both in Paris, France.
Kehren succeeds Christophe Clémente, who leaves Solvay for a new role, after 9 years of service to Solvay, the past six of which as president of Soda Ash & Derivatives.
