CASO® POWDER is a synthetic calcium chloride of mineral origin intended for technical uses. It is manufactured by Solvay's Process for Soda-Ash starting with natural raw materials such as salt brine and limestone. For technical applications, the major uses of calcium chloride do not require high chemical purity. CASO® POWDER is free of materials that are harmful to the environment. It contains a very low level of heavy metals and organic compounds and is relatively innocuous. Total alkali chlorides are the main impurities of commercial calcium chloride. These impurities, essentially sodium chloride with smaller amounts of potassium chloride, are known to be harmful when included in cement. Because calcium chloride is used in cement, its total alkali chlorides content must be kept at a “reasonable” level. Direct use of calcium chloride in animal or human foods requires adequate grades of material (Food or Feed Grades). CASO® POWDER is obtained by sifting of CASO® FLAKES.
