Nearly 100% of our production sites have joined the Star Factory program which aims to radically transform our production sites, to improve their competitiveness and sustainability. Launched in 2021, the program addresses all aspects of the plants, with digitalization acting as a catalyst for change, and people engagement to play a critical role in driving cultural change.
A comprehensive change initiative
Each site defines its own detailed 10-year sustainability roadmap, with short- and long-term goals, to address five main areas:
- Safety: Striving for zero accidents.
- Operational Excellence: Implementing industry-leading practices, leveraging digital technologies.
- Sustainability: Reducing our environmental footprint, improving DEI performance, and being a responsible community partner.
- Digitalization: Accelerating delivery of digital and data-enabled value for customers.
- Employee Engagement: Upskilling and empowering our manufacturing teams, and developing future talents.
By upgrading the capabilities and operational efficiency of our plants, we will be able to better meet the increasing expectations of customers and the communities around.
The "Star" of Star Factory: the five axes of the program
Gaining positive momentum at our plant in Rosignano, Italy
Since implementing Star Factory at the end of 2023, the site has made significant progress in several areas, including competitiveness, sustainability, and safety. Notably, it has optimized energy consumption, achieved energy efficiencies, reduced well water use for industrial purposes by 80%, and cut freshwater intake by 25%. These achievements are due to high employee engagement and ongoing efforts to enhance well-being at work.
Our “Zero Events” Safety program is built on partnerships with suppliers and leverages technology tools like 3D goggles.
Boost sustainability efforts in our plant in Collonges, France
The Star Factory program equips the site to respond swiftly to customers expectations through improved product quality, reliable supply and more flexibility.
In 2023, the site launched several quick win initiatives that included increasing our capacity to recycle, reusing 5% of our second-choice products that do not match customers’ expectations in order to manufacture new ones and continuing to expand our multimodal transportation to save on cost and reduce CO2 emissions linked to transport.
Local communities will benefit from our actions with smarter solutions to reduce our impact on biodiversity and water resources, notably by reusing and recycling wastewater.
