About the role

  • Our Mine Maintenance department, composed of approximately 68 people, is integrated with the Mine Operations and Mine Utility teams and focuses on safe and reliable operation and minimal downtime of all mine assets in collaboration with the overall mine production budget.
  • As a Maintenance Mechanic, you will provide preventative and repair maintenance support to the surface soda ash, diversified/specialty products and all other surface facilities, ensuring safe and continuous operation. You will get the opportunity to contribute to the growing Soda Ash family and have a positive impact on transformation journey of Solvay.
  • You will be accountable for:
    • Perform maintenance/electrical troubleshooting and repair of electrical systems to include low, medium, high voltage, and AC/DC systems related to underground mining equipment.
    • Coordinate maintenance activities with mine production and operations to ensure well planned and coordinated actions are consistent with the goals of the mine.
    • Perform proper risk assessments and inspections of work areas and equipment.
  • We offer employment based on site working a 12 hour shift rotation of both days and graves, 6am to 6pm.

About you

  • High School Diploma or GED and a valid Driver’s License are required.
  • Five years of applicable mine electrical experience or equivalent required
  • Formal education/training in the electrical discipline preferred
  • MSHA electrical certification is a plus
  • Competencies:
    • Be able to recognize what needs to be done and have the initiative to do it.
    • Have the ability to work well with others and be team oriented; analyze information, both written and verbal; and prioritize and organize required job activities.
    • Ability to work with limited directions/supervision is essential
    • Must be able to lift, pull/push and carry equipment, tools and other objects weighing up to fifty pounds.

About the pay and benefits

  • Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. While the USA base pay reasonably expected for this role is $47.00/hr to $49.00/hr, your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience. Additionally, we provide a competitive total rewards package that includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
