Our production at Bad Wimpfen (Germany)

Solvay does not produce TFA (trifluoroacetic acid) at its Bad Wimpfen site. It uses TFA as a raw material in the manufacture of products, mainly for the agrochemical and pharmaceutical industries.

The plant operations are subject to strict regulations and to the control of the competent local authorities. The Bad Wimpfen site carries out rigorous monitoring of its wastewater treatment plant, in accordance with the regulatory requirements for environmental and health protection, as laid down by the authorities.

Solvay has a scrubber system where trifluoroacetic acid  is neutralized into a stable salt form (trifluoroacetate). The wastewater produced is neutralized in the wastewater treatment plant and cleaned of solids before it is discharged into the Neckar.

Furthermore, the Bad Wimpfen site has undertaken significant investments, including those aimed at reducing its discharges into the environment. The plant consistently remains below the relevant thresholds as defined by the local authorities.
