As head of Solvay’s DEI program - Solvay One Dignity - Nathalie van Ypersele will lead the development of a more inclusive, equitable and diverse workplace.

Brussels, May 20, 2021 – Nathalie van Ypersele has been appointed chief diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) officer to help Solvay achieve new ambitious DEI targets by 2025.

As part of our Solvay One Planet commitment, we pledged to improve the quality of life of millions of people – including all of us within Solvay. With the appointment of Nathalie, we’re taking yet another step to make our Group a more just and equitable workplace where everyone can thrive,” said Iham Kadri, CEO of Solvay.

Nathalie van Ypersele will drive the development and deployment of Solvay’s DEI strategy in partnership with Solvay's leaders to empower the necessary cultural change within the company to foster a truly inclusive work environment. She is taking up the position in addition to her current role as head of global communications.

An internal DEI study showed that while progress is being made within the Group, there are still a number of improvement areas. A common pitfall is to focus too narrowly on diversity figures, so we’ve elected to prioritize building equity first and to create an inclusive environment in which diverse individuals can be at their best. I am happy to take on this challenge with colleagues across the company to give a new impetus to DEI, with concrete targets and measurable results," said Nathalie van Ypersele.
