Solvay offers 3 types of solutions for use in surface disinfectant formulations worldwide: Peracetic Acid-based solution, Hydrogen Peroxide-based solution and Sodium Percarbonate solution.

PROXITANE® : Peracetic Acid - based solution 

Solvay PROXITANE® solutions are concentrated liquid Peracetic Acid-based disinfectants, effective against a broad range of bacteria, viruses (including SAR-CoV-2, the virus responsible for COVID-19) and fungi, on both clean and soiled surfaces. They work by oxidizing the protein cell wall which destroys the pathogens, even at very low concentrations. There is no known antimicrobial resistance to PROXITANE® solutions. 

PROXITANE® solutions are suitable for a wide range of applications such as surface disinfection in places like public spaces, hospitality buildings, transportation, and cleaning in place (CIP) in the food & beverage industry. Other applications include the disinfection of laundry, as a pesticide in agriculture, for maintaining animal health, and for the sterilization of medical devices, just to name a few. 

In the US, PROXITANE® AHC has been granted approval for use against SARS-CoV-2 by the US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA Registration Number 68660-11).

In Europe, PROXITANE® solutions have been tested and proven effective against a wide range of viruses, including SARS-CoV-2, enabling a log 4 reduction of these viruses at extremely low PAA concentration (0.3%),  according to standard EN14476:2013(1). Testing showed effectiveness under both clean and dirty conditions.

In Brazil,  PROXITANE® solution is available as a High-level surface disinfectant for hospitals.

OXYPER®: Sodium Percarbonate solution to sanitize and disinfect surfaces and garment

OXYPER® (sodium carbonate peroxyhydrate) is a coated and stabilized sodium percarbonate. It is well known as a powerful oxygen bleaching agent for cleaning, whitening, stain removal, water softening and product compaction in detergents. 

In addition, it can also be used to sanitize and disinfect surfaces and garments when it is used in combination with TAED (tetraacetylethylenediamine). The hydrogen peroxide released upon dissolution of the sodium percarbonate reacts with TAED to generate in situ peracetic acid which is a stronger biocide than hydrogen peroxide.

The active substance "peracetic acid generated from tetraacetylethylenediamine and sodium percarbonate" has been approved for use in biocidal products of product-types 2, 3 and 4, based on Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2017/1276 of 14 July 2017. OXYPER® can be used as a precursor of this active substance and can be used in formulations to claim disinfection and protect your home against biological contamination. *

 

Decontamination of Critical Healthcare Settings through vaporized hydrogen peroxide technology (VHP) 

Solvay’s INTEROX® SG hydrogen peroxide based solutions are used in VHP sterilization systems for decontamination in healthcare, pharmaceutical and medical device manufacturing industries.

In Europe and Thailand, INTEROX® SG grades are manufactured according to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and are registered in many countries. In Europe for instance,  INTEROX® SG grades have passed the AFNOR test NF-T 72-281 for airborne disinfection of surfaces that is strictly required for room decontamination in healthcare settings.

 

High Purity Grade Hydrogen Peroxide in WHO alcohol-based hand-rub formulations 

In the alcohol-based hand-rub formulations defined by the WHO, hydrogen peroxide is used to inactivate bacterial spores in the disinfecting solutions.

INTEROX® PH30 is a GMP grade H2O2 for pharmaceutical applications. As requested by the World Health Organization (WHO), INTEROX® PH-30 is compliant with the European Pharmacopoeia. INTEROX® PH 30 contains 30% Hydrogen Peroxide and needs dilution for manufacturing hand rub gels. Its composition allows high stability of its downstream products even after dilution.
