Brasília (DF), May 28, 2021 - Daniela Manique, President of the Solvay Group in Latin America, received the Commander's Cross of the Order of the Crown of Belgium in a virtual ceremony held on May 28 under the leadership of the Belgian Ambassador to Brazil, Patrick Herman.

The Order of the Crown of Belgium, established on October 15, 1897, is awarded for services rendered to the Belgian state, especially for meritorious services in the public sector. It may also be granted for distinguished artistic, literary, or scientific achievements, or for commercial or industrial services rendered by individuals in Belgium or abroad.

The decoration, conferred by King Philippe upon the proposal of the Belgian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sophie Wilmès, recognizes the exceptional services provided by Daniela Manique to bilateral industrial relations between Brazil and Belgium, as well as her ongoing dedication to sustainability and corporate social responsibility issues.

A native of São Paulo, Daniela Manique has been serving as President of the Solvay Group in Latin America since 2018, concurrently holding the position of Global Business Unit Director for Coatis, which produces and markets phenol and derivatives, oxygenated solvents, polyamide, and fibers from Brazil. Trained as a chemical engineer with extensive industry experience, Daniela Manique also serves as Vice President of the Board of Directors of Abiquim - the Brazilian Chemical Industry Association - and is a strong advocate for enhancing economic and trade relations between Belgium and Brazil.

In addition to her pioneering role in promoting women's leadership in the industry in the region, Daniela Manique has led the company's efforts to advance competitiveness, innovation, ESG, and corporate social responsibility programs.

She has also led Solvay Group's initiatives in the region to assist in combating the effects of the coronavirus pandemic, such as the development of a groundbreaking antiviral polyamide textile yarn in Brazil, the production of alcohol for donation to hospitals and several municipal governments, the donation of food baskets and tons of fabrics for projects aimed at producing social use masks, generating additional income for seamstresses.

"I am very honored by this distinction. And I would like to share it with all our employees in the region, who have helped me carry out the various projects of the company aimed at increasing our industrial competitiveness, developing innovative products for the different markets in which we operate, and enhancing sustainability policies, always with the aim of offering the best solutions to our customers," said Daniela Manique upon receiving the tribute. She also emphasized Solvay Group's commitments to advancing Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion practices and to social projects aimed at enhancing the value of the communities where the company operates in the region.
