About the role

  • Our Energy Sourcing and Advocacy team, composed of 9 people, is integrated in the Energy Business Support Activities department and focuses on bringing reliable, competitive and decarbonized energy in collaboration with the different sites of Solvay.
  • As an Energy Sourcing & Advocacy Manager, you will work on purchasing energy (mainly gas and electricity) and understand and support actions regarding energy regulation to support competitiveness and the decarbonization roadmap of Solvay in North America. You will get the opportunity to contribute to understanding the North America Energy markets, create innovative and competitive energy sourcing solutions for Solvay and have a positive impact on sustainability and competitiveness.
  • You will be accountable for:
    • Having market knowledge about the US gas and electricity market as well as the markets in Canada and Mexico, stay updated about trends and evolutions within energy and related market and about all other (financial, legal, competitive…) information relevant for the own domain and perimeter
    • Observing, analyzing and assessing the business impact of energy regulation development. Identifying and applying for energy related subsidies/funding by state or at federal level and participating in American Chemistry Council (ACC) Energy Committee activities.
    • Manage End to End process of the energy sourcing from tendering to operational implementation: origination of the energy sourcing, negotiation and operational implementation
    • Delivering savings and working capital management
    • Participating in sustainable development projects related to energy supply for the group in North America
  • We offer a permanent contract based on a hybrid working mode with travels.

About you

  • Relevant education degree or equivalent in Master of Science or MBA or equivalent.
  • Relevant work experience in 5 or 10 years.
  • Competencies:
    • Energy markets expertize: understanding of the energy markets in North America and the associated regulation
    • Origination strategies: expertise in the US/Mexico energy markets, purchasing/sourcing strategies, creativity for new business models/opportunities. Negotiation and purchasing: Deep understanding and knowledge of negotiation process and negotiation strategies, tactics and techniques and the ability to apply them.
    • Energy subsidies/funding knowledge: being able to identify them, to match them with the business requirements and to lead the management of the application
    • Autonomous: Capacity to develop networks and communication skills and to work remotely with and report to the manager of the Energy Sourcing Team based in Europe
    • Languages: English, Spanish is a plus

About the pay and benefits

  • Attractive and equitable pay for all: compensation is determined within a range to foster your development in the role. While the primary country base pay reasonably expected for this role is $119,000.00 to $167,000.00, your salary may ultimately be higher or lower based on your skills and experience. Additionally, we provide a competitive total rewards package that includes a bonus and/or other incentives.
