Wastewater treatment
OXYSTRONG® 15 is an equilibrium mixture of peracetic acid, hydrogen peroxide, acetic acid and water that is used to remove pathogenic species and harmful microorganisms found in wastewater ranging from raw sewage to final sewage effluent and stormwater. Using this fast acting oxidizing biocide ensures water safety for animal and human populations, as well as the environment at large.
The effectiveness of Solvay’s peracetic acid on sewage indicator viruses and bacteria in wastewater effluent is well documented. In addition, the absence of persistent residuals and harmful byproducts makes it a viable and attractive alternative to other treatment methods.
The concentration can be customized based on contact time and the level and type of organic and inorganic contamination in the system. OXYSTRONG® 15 can be used as a stand alone treatment or in conjunction with existing treatments such as UV treatment in emergency use conditions.
Key benefits of OXYSTRONG® 15
One of the key advantages of OXYSTRONG® 15 is the fact that peracetic acid is quickly hydrolyzed in surface water, leaving behind acetic acid and hydrogen peroxide, both easily biodegradable substances.
OXYSTRONG® 15 is supplied as a “ready-to-use” liquid, necessitating only storage and feed equipment and requiring low capital cost investment and minimal maintenance.
Enhancing Waste Water Quality at Milan-Nosedo: OXYSTRONG® 15 as a cost-effective, more sustainable alternative to UV lamps
The implementation of OXYSTRONG® 15 at Milan-Nosedo Waste Water Treatment Plant (pictured below) to disinfect waste water allows it to reach the high-quality standard for irrigation with lower economical average impact versus mainstream alternative (UV lamps) and no toxic chlorinated by-products.
